Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which of your products are for swim and which are for sport?
Every item on our website is swimwear. Our tops and bottoms are lightweight and breathable and are great for the gym and for any other sport, indoors or out. Our customers wear them to swim, hike, bike, surf, boat, run, play tennis and much, much more.
2. How do I know what size to take?
We have a link to our sizing chart on every page. Find the size that you normally wear in tops and bottoms
(sizes 2,4,6,8,10,12,14 ,16,18,20,22,24,26 etc) and then look at our chart to find out what HydroChic size to order. All our items are made to be close fitting as they are swimwear and will stretch a little in the water. They go back to their original fit as they dry. Close fitting tops will not ride up in the water.
If you would feel more comfortable with a looser top, go one size up in your top. The waist of your bottom should be close fitting. You can always tuck your top into your skirt if your top is loose. (That way your top will not balloon in the water.)
If you would like more help with sizing, simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will ask you your height and weight and a few more details to better help you choose the best size for you.
3. Are there special washing instructions?
When you order your HydroChic, you will receive washing instructions in the package. We also have washing instructions right on our website. It appears under customer services on the bottom of every page.
You can wear your HydroChic all day long but when you take it off you MUST soak it in lukewarm water with a little detergent.
If your suit is made of nylon/lycra you must take extra care to get out any chlorine that your suit absorbed from the pool.
Chlorine is a chemical and it eats at the lycra in your nylon/lycra suit. If you still smell chlorine on your suit after you have washed it, the chemical is still present and is still at work eating at the lycra in your garment.
4.Can I wear my swimsuit in a hot tub or jacuzzi?
Depending on the chemicals used in the water, the fabric of your suit and the heat of the tub, you swimsuit can shrink, fade or stretch out. Better to use an old swimsuit for a dip in the hot tub, or jacuzzi.
5. What type of suit should I buy if I swim every day in the pool?
Our most chlorine resistant fabric is chlorine proof and does not have any lycra in it. It is made of polyester. Our HydroChic items that are made of polyester will be listed as chlorine proof in the description section of the item. Chlorine eats lycra so if you spend a lot of time in pools, you will want to wear swimwear from our chlorine proof line for the pool.
6. Do the tops have built in support or bras?
We provide a swim bra with each full priced top that you purchase. On the same page on which you select your top size, you are also asked to select your bra size. None of our tops have any type of bra built in to the top. We know our customers may need to choose one size for their top and another size for the bra. You choose the swim bra that works for you.
You can also buy just a swim bra. Our selection of bras can be found at http://hydrochic.com/modest-swimsuits/modest-tops-for-women/sports-bras.html.
7. Are there different types of bras to choose from?
We have 3 different bras that you can choose from. Our first style is a sports bra with cups sewn in. We offer it in sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.The cups for bra sizes 3 and 4 are the same but the circumference of the size 4 bra is larger.
Our second option is the same as the first but is a mastectomy bra. It is available in sizes 1-4. Just add a note in the comment section of your order asking for a mastectomy bra instead of our regular bra and we will gladly send you the mastectomy bra instead.
Our third style is our newest bra- it is a sports bra with no cups for women who are a size A/B cup. The bra is available in sizes extra small, small, medium, large, extra-large and XXL.
8. Are there pockets in the attached pants of the athletic skirts?
There is an inner pocket in each and every HydroChic skirt and bottom. It is big enough for a cell phone.
Our Capri pants have a zippered back pocket that is great for keys.
9. Do the shirts have zippered pockets?
More and more of our tops have zippered pockets.
10. Will a swim skirt become heavy and constrain my movement in the water?
All our tops and bottoms are made of the highest quality swimwear material. We choose light weight fabrics so that you will not feel the fabric in the water. For swimming, you should choose the shortest skirt possible in your comfort zone. If you are five feet tall, you don’t need our 27 inch skirt because you will feel that you are swimming with too much fabric. If you are 5 feet 10 inches, our 27 inch skirt may be just the swim skirt for you.
11. Will a swim skirt balloon up in the water?
When you first step in to the water, the skirt may balloon until it is completely wet. That is why we have designed a variety of skirts with attached shorts or pants underneath. Some of our wider skirts have snaps on the hem of the skirt so that you can snap the skirt between the legs.
12. Do all the swim skirts have attached shorts or pants?
We offer a few skirts without attached shorts or pants. Many women use these skirts as cover ups over their own traditional one piece or bikini.
For these skirts, it is clearly stated in the product description that there are no attached pants or shorts.
13. Are only the chlorine proof products for swimming?
Every item on our website is for swimming. Our nylon/ Xtra Life LYCRA® collection has built in chlorine resistance but if you spend most of your swimming time in the pool (lap swimmers, water aerobics lovers, water park members), you should be wearing items without lycra. Choose from our Chlorine Proof collection and you and your swimwear will have a blast at the pool.
14. How do the different fabrics that you use for your swimwear feel?
Our nylon/lycra fabrics have a silky feel and has Xtra Life LYCRA® for lots of stretch.
Our Ultra Chlorine collection is made with a soft stretch material that is not lycra. It is not as stretchy as lycra and therefore can hide those imperfections that you do not want anyone to see.
15. Which items are UPF50+?
All our items are UPF 50 + to give you maximum protection from the sun’s harmful rays. You only need to apply sunscreen to the skin not covered by your HydroChic suit.
If sunscreen falls on your HydroChic swimwear, you must wash it off right away.
