It happens to the best of us. As the days get colder, our desire to exercise dwindles and gets replaced by cozier images: Sipping hot chocolate all bundled up in a blanket in front of the TV, baking cupcakes and holiday cookies, or just staying in our nice warm bed. But sticking to a regular fitness routine in the winter months is essential for keeping in shape, staying healthy and avoiding the dreaded winter weight gain.
The biggest barriers to maintaining an exercise routine in colder temperatures are finding the right place to exercise and staying motivated. Deciding where to workout might take some extra planning, but there are multiple options whether you choose to remain outdoors, head indoors or just stay at home. If you choose a location outside of the home, pick a place to exercise that is comfortable and close to where you live or work.
