Grandma saves the vacation!
By Rita S. from Washington
“Our granddaughter lives in Alaska and visits with us for several weeks each summer. Three years ago she arrived with a wonderful short-sleeved swim shirt and matching thigh length shorts. She wore that for two summers as she swam in pools and lakes. This summer she had out-grown her favorite swimwear and her mother was unable to locate anything similar. Granddaughter and I went shopping all over town to discover absolutely nothing but the usual two piece or low cut/high-hip cut one piece suits available.
But, I’m resourceful (a retired research analyst) and turned to the Internet when we got home. She looked over my shoulder as I clicked on many sites claiming to have “modest swimwear”. I was stunned with what some claimed to be modest was no better than the usual skin revealing suits on the market. I was beginning to get discouraged by the time I clicked on your site and couldn’t believe my eyes — exactly the type of swimwear my dear granddaughter wanted. She chose a combination in one of her favorite colors and I sent off the order. Personally, I was attracted to the multi-colored fabrics but she preferred the plain colored ones. She thanked me several times for my not giving up too soon and for the purchase.
But then we had a problem. It was the holiday of July 4 when we made the order and we were leaving July 7th for our vacation on the Oregon coast. I nervously waited until I was able to contact a live representative to plea for rapid shipping all the way across the United States to our home in Washington. I can’t say enough nice things to describe the respect and concern I received during that phone call. I was thoroughly impressed by the sincere attention to detail the phone representative gave to my need for fast service.
Still, as we waited for the delivery, we worried that the package wouldn’t arrive in time — but it did. She tried the pieces on and they both fit her slim 13-year old frame beautifully. The X-small wasn’t too tight or too large. The sizing guide on the website for swimsuits proved to be accurate.
She wore it in the pool of the condo building where we were staying as well as on the beach in perfect comfort. It washed well, holding it’s original shape and size and dried quickly. I can’t think of even one way to improve this product.
When we sent her back home to Alaska at the end of July, I asked her to try on the suit before she comes next year and if she has grown too much to be comfortable to let me know and I’ll order the next size up to have ready when she visits. I received many hugs and “thank-yous” for the purchase that really should be yours for the service you provided.
Weeks later, when I took my grandson to a water park, I noticed many young girls wearing swim dresses and leggings while enjoying the water. It was encouraging to me to see that other mothers are not comfortable with dressing their daughters in the skimpy two piece items this current culture passes off as acceptable female dress.
As for myself, a plus-size woman, several years ago I found a modest swimsuit and will be very sad the day it wears out. But, I now know where I can go to replace it when that time comes!
I hope this explanation and story helps you. I feel privileged to serve you in a small way in exchange for the wonderful way you served me.”
