I recently celebrated my 60th birthday with my family in Eilat, Israel. Family includes my husband, married children, grandchildren and the baby of our family, our 18 year old son. We flew to our vacation destination which meant that luggage was limited. I love to wear nice clothes and I am not a good packer, but this time I knew that HydroChic would be my staple this vacation and packed a few sets: a jacket, shirt, skirt and capri pants. I knew that these outfits would be great for all the activities on my vacation, and when I woke up each morning I put on a HydroChic outfit and was ready to go. My daughters-in-law were impressed but not surprised when they saw me in HydroChic because they know that I live in my HydroChic at our community pool, and over the years I have gotten each of them a HydroChic outfit so that they can enjoy too.
“Dying young isn’t cool either…” These words, though a bit harsh, were the words that our dermatologist berated my 13 year old daughter with this morning.
Nothing beats nice, warm weather. However, during the summer months, there’s a thin line between warm and scorching. While a rare few seem built to lay on the beach for hours on end no matter how high the thermostat, the rest of us often find ourselves incapable of parting with the comfort of our air conditioned homes. But just because the outdoors aren’t always inviting, doesn’t mean we’re doomed to waste away the summer on our couches watching Big Brother live feeds.
Here are some great indoor places to spend the hottest days of the year:
Rooms full of riddles are popping up all over the globe, and for good reason! You’re guaranteed action and excitement as you and your friends scramble to solve clues and puzzles and “escape the room” in less than 60 minutes. Every room has its own theme so the fun never runs out!
2. Indoor Water Parks
Just because the weather’s unbearable doesn’t mean you have to give up an age-old summer tradition. Venues like New Jersey’s Sahara Sam’s Oasis offer slides, wave pools, lazy rivers…basically everything you get in a typical waterpark minus the sunburn!
- Ice Skating
What better way to beat the heat than to literally surround yourself with ice? With indoor rinks, this winter favorite becomes a year-round activity that is sure to keep you cool. So dig up your leggings and sweaters and get yourself into some skates!
- Sky Diving
Believe it or not, skydiving is not an activity that is confined to the great outdoors. Venues like iFLY, which has branches all across the US, bring the skydiving experience indoors with the help of vertical wind tunnels. Cross this ultimate adventure off your bucket list without ever breaking a sweat!
We are fortunate to live in an innovative world that offers us plenty to do within four walls. Even once you’ve tired out all the classics – movies, concerts, museums, bowling – there’s always more to do, so leave your sunhat at home and go explore the indoors!
Water bottle. Check.
You probably haven’t updated your beach bag content in quite some time. Although the beach hasn’t changed much, technology certainly has and the market’s been spitting out some pretty awesome products that you’ll want to add to your checklist pronto!
Everywhere you go, you see them. Women on the beach – in sleeves. Women riding bikes – in sleeves. Women relaxing in the sun – in sleeves. This summer, more and more women are finding that fashion forward at the beach or the pool means wearing stylish sun protective garments that cover their shoulders and arms. Luckily, there are more and more fashionable ways to protect ourselves from the sun’s rays when wearing long sleeve swimsuits no matter the sport.
